Stories from the future can supercharge change

In a world in flux, often stuck ‘tinkering around the edges’...

Accessible, personal, optimistic stories of what the future could hold are key – unlocking the imagination needed to build tomorrow better.

The problem

We live in a time of climate breakdown, conflict, social divisions, inequality; and in many countries, falling living standards, strained public services, sluggish economies. At the same time authoritarians and populist far-right movements are profiting from the challenges we face by giving people easy solutions and telling false stories.

Every part of society and business - so many sectors, organisations and communities - need bold change to deal with these big challenges. Part of that change needs the third sector, governments and policy makers to involve and give more power to people, who want a say in the future of their communities and countries.

But change can be hard. Participation can be hard. Imagining doing things differently can be hard. Communicating new ideas can be hard. ‘Futures’ approaches can help to unlock thinking – but too often this means long and complex reports or processes, not accessible to ordinary people.

What is ‘futures’ work?

The solution

The Tomorrow Rooms can provide solutions to the third sector, governments and policy makers, arts organisations and purpose-driven businesses to engage people and find the creative, imaginative and hopeful ideas we so desperately need – to work on building a future we all want to see.

We support you to create stories from the future – as a way to bring ideas to life, exploring what could happen if things were different, how it could look for real people. We're democratising futures work.

It might sound deceptively simple – but it's the most powerful, engaging way to involve people in developing ideas and strategies. Anyone can understand a story: and with our tools and expert support, anyone can create a story.

Boring brainstorms become exciting experiences. Inertia turns into imagination. New projects become reality. New policies reach new audiences.

Why now?

The status quo in the social good sector is no longer enough.

By democratising complex foresight techniques through accessible storytelling, we provide the ‘breadcrumbs’ needed to guide organisations toward a hopeful, actionable future.

The Tomorrow Rooms is built on the belief that accessible stories are the most powerful technology we have for social change. Whether you are creating a new vision or navigating existing ones, we can help you ensure that your actions today are guided by the hope and possibilities of tomorrow.
